The California Public Utilities Commission is one the State’s lead agencies working to reduce carbon emissions and encourage sustainability in California. Established in 2020, the Building Decarbonization and Renewable Gas Section seeks to decarbonize California's residences and workplaces by encouraging a transition to buildings and appliances powered by clean electric generation. The section also works to decarbonize California's gas system by encouraging alternatives to fossil natural gas, such as biomethane and renewable hydrogen.

Under general direction of the Project and Program Supervisor, the analyst will be part of a team of energy professionals and will use their analytical and critical thinking skills to solve complex regulatory problems. Specifically, the analyst will assist in the creation and implementation of various building electrification programs and initiatives.

This is a senior-level position and will involve the responsibility of providing regulatory oversight for large energy programs, collaborating with multi-disciplinary teams, developing technical research and overseeing evaluation studies, leading meetings and providing presentations, and all aspects of achieving the state's goals of addressing climate change in buildings through electrification.
