The Product Stewardship Analyst is responsible for assuring compliance of VWGoA products subject to U.S. material and chemical regulations including but not limited to TSCA, VOCs, etc. Relevant products include completed vehicles, after sales parts & components, and accessory products for each of the VWGoA Brands, both imported and domestically-sourced. This includes – but is not limited to – reviewing chemical and material compositions of products, monitoring the chemical and material regulatory environment, communicating compliance obligations to relevant internal stakeholders, and representing VWGoA’s interests in communications with regulatory agencies and trade associations.
The Product Stewardship Analyst also represents VWGoA at the VW Group (global) level as a Regional Regulatory Affair Coordinator (R-VKO) responsible for U.S. chemical and material conformity topics.
Job Summary:
Regulatory Interpretation Development and Documentation (35%)
- Conduct in-depth review of regulations as needed to develop well documented summaries and interpretations to guide Group Brands (global) and VWGoA entities (U.S.) to ensure implementation of relevant regulations in products.
- Assess the impact of proposed regulatory rules or amendments on VWGoA products and report on potentially relevant policies to guide Brands in the development of products.
- Assess the impact of proposed regulatory amendments
- Coordinate with EHS legal counsel on current and emerging compliance obligations
- Coordinate findings with internal and external stakeholders, including communicating with government officials to establish consensus on interpretations.
- Maintain a history of results to streamline future requests and build a knowledge bank.
- Record interpretations and understandings into a VWGoA internal database.
External Technical and Policy Advocacy (25%)
- Participate in relevant technical working groups and policy activities to represent VWGoA’s interests.
- Provide summaries of important findings and projections regarding impacts on future regulatory policy or other outcomes that could affect future product planning.
- Conduct data collection and analyses in conjunction with relevant stakeholders (e.g. Brand vehicle development, aftersales, accessories, manufacturing) to inform advocacy.
Compliance Reporting and Review (25%)
- Collect and analyze relevant data required for assorted compliance reporting obligations.
- Prepare and submit compliance reports to relevant agencies (e.g. TSCA CDR, TSCA MER, NEWMOA IMERC, etc.).
- Review assorted VWGoA products, including but limited to imported and/or domestic vehicles, aftersales, or accessories for compliance with U.S. chemical and material regulations (e.g. TSCA, VOCs, etc.)
Management System Implementation and Maintenance (15%)
- Implement and maintain Product Compliance Management System obligations pertaining to Material and Chemical Conformity topics including but not limited to binding obligations register maintenance, participation in audits, etc.
- Implement and maintain Quality Management System obligations pertaining to Material and Chemical Conformity topics including but not limited to process documentation, participation in audits, KPI tracking, etc.
- Maintenance of secure IT environment/tools to support the above management system obligations

Required Experience:
5-7 years of experience in U.S. regulatory compliance, preferably chemical and material compliance in the automotive sector.
Required Education:
Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering/Science Discipline or Equivalent
Desired Education:
- Master’s Degree in an Engineering/Science Discipline or Equivalent
- German language skills
Required Skills:
- Demonstrated experience with U.S. material regulatory interpretation and enforcement, including TSCA, CA Prop 65, VOC Regulations, OSHA, and/or HazCom compliance.
- Technical background in chemical or environmental management
- Proven experience developing regulatory guidance for business units, including impact assessment of proposed regulations on existing products/operations and recommended actions
- Knowledge of U.S. Federal and State regulatory databases and online services
- Experience with data management systems
- Project Management experience

Work Flexibility:
- Domestic and International Travel as needed ~ up to 10% (2-7 day durations)
