Reporting to the Executive Director for the Stockton Student Wellness Center, the Associate Director of Health Outreach, Promotion and Education (HOPE) serves as an integral member of the Stockton Student Wellness Center services leadership team who serve a student community of nearly 10,000.
The Associate Director provides direct oversight to the Student Health Services office and will develop, implement, and evaluate group- and population-level efforts to improve the health and wellbeing of undergraduate and graduate students. The Associate Director supports campus-wide prevention strategies that are evidence-based, clinically-informed, collaborative, and address the varying needs of our diverse student body
The Associate Director will develop and implement outreach programs and campus-wide programs in collaboration with other departments. In addition to participate in University events and serve on relative committees. The incumbent will be actively engaged in professional development, conferences, department and divisional activities, professional associations, and workshops.

Assists the Executive Director with the oversight, management of Student Health Services, including direct supervision of support and professional staff and coordination of integrated health education programs and services with clinical medical personnel
Develops and implements integrated student health outreach, promotion and education strategies focused on holistic health and well-being (e.g. sexual health, nutrition, alcohol and other drugs, mental and physical health strategies, etc.) with University and community partners
Develops measurable objectives and conducts annual assessment of student health, utilization and access and services through institutional and national assessments (e.g. Healthy Minds Study, ACHA-National Collegiate Health Assessment, etc.)
Assists the Executive Director with fiscal management for Student Health Services area
Promotes equitable access and utilization of student health resources through workshops and consultations
Coordinates contact tracing efforts for student health epidemics and other public health priorities with institutional and community partners
Collaborates with campus partners to provide students with case management, support services, educational outreach, training and referral sources for campus offices including but not limited to: Residential Life, Dean of Students Office, Academic Affairs and faculty, Care and Community Standards, Campus Police, Academic Advising and Preceptors, Athletics and Recreation, Health Services and Learning Access Program
Coordinate and assess alcohol/drug education and recovery programs with campus partners
Participates in professional organizations that promote college student health and wellbeing (e.g. American College Health Association, NASPA, ACPA, etc.)
Provides oversight and leadership for reproductive health services (SHARP) program
Participate in divisional and university committees as needed
Other duties as assigned by the Executive Director of the Stockton Student Wellness Center, Assistant Vice President for Health and Wellness and/or the Vice President for Student Affairs
Master’s degree in Public Health, Health Administration, Health Education or related field
Minimum of three years of experience of professional health promotion work experience in a higher education setting
Master Certified Health Education Specialist (MCHES) or Certified in Public Health (CPH) or eligible and intent to become certified
Experience conducting needs assessments and using results to guide programmatic decisions and budget allocations
Proficiency with social health promotion and marketing strategies
Demonstrated success facilitating health access education and services to historically underserved student communities
Demonstrated commitment to social justice and Inclusive Student Success
Active membership and involvement with national college/university health promotions or college counseling associations (e.g. ACHA; APHA, NASPA, SOPHE, etc.)
PhD or equivalent terminal degree in public health, health promotion, health policy or health education
Prior experience implementing American College Health Association (ACHA) Standards of Practice for Health Promotion in Higher Education (SPHPHE)
Prior experience supervising professional staff
Demonstrated knowledge of college student development theory and models
Quantitative and qualitative research skills (e.g. research design and facilitation, data analysis and interpretation, etc.)
Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of current best practices in college student health initiatives through active participation in American College Health Association (ACHA) and other professional associations focused on college student health
Demonstrated knowledge to conceptualize health promotion in the context of higher education
Demonstrated knowledge of health promotion, behavior change, and population-based theories and models
Demonstrated knowledge of evidence-informed health promotion programs/initiatives
Demonstrated knowledge of environmental management strategies/socio-ecological model
Demonstrated skills in developing and implementing environmental and policy change activities and strategies
Ability to critically review health-related professional literature relevant to college students and assess its applicability and utility for effectiveness on a particular campus
Demonstrated skills in gathering, compiling, and synthesizing information to develop health promotion initiatives and educational materials for a diverse group of students
Demonstrated skills in a variety of educational methods including presentations, workshops, trainings, individual behavior change sessions, and small group discussion/facilitation
Proficient in a variety of computer software applications (e.g., word processing, spreadsheet, PowerPoint, and statistical software)
Written/oral/interpersonal communication skills
Supervisory skills to effectively manage student staff or volunteers
Ability to incorporate ACHA SPHPHE and ACHA Healthy Campus objectives into all aspects of health promotion services, including strategic planning, service delivery, staff training, professional development, and staff evaluation
Capacity to deliver cost-effective, evidence-informed programs that have a high likelihood of achieving measurable improvements in health behaviors and status and/or enhanced student success
