Research Area Specialist Sr

Independently design and execute experiments using cutting-edge technologies in the field of cell biology, molecular biology, and biochemistry to support drug discovery and elucidate mechanisms of action of key compounds. Taking leads in developing and implementing novel assays for compound screening and characterization. Interact closely with medicinal chemists to provide biology expertise and support as the biology lead of a drug discovery project team. Participate in various activities of the drug discovery process: from target identification/validation, lead identification/optimization, through to nomination of clinical candidate. Actively and openly participate in research discussions and reviews. Co-authors/authors publications; may co-present with Principal Investigator at meetings and conferences; assists in acquiring research funding including writing grant proposals. May supervise exempt and non-exempt research and support personnel. Monitors budget, researches, recommends and purchases equipment. Master's degree in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or related field. 5-10 years of related experience. Outstanding laboratory skills. Must have extensive research experience on mammalian cell culture, DNA/RNA/protein isolation from tissues or culture cells, Western Blot, and molecular biology techniques such as qRT-PCR. Experience with immunostaining and flow cytometry. Ph.D in cell biology, molecular biology, biochemistry or related field. Primarily days, with the need to take emergency call or work scheduled shifts during active study periods on nights/evenings/weekends and fill in during staff absences.
