Overview: Together with its subsidiaries and affiliates, the Automobile Club of Southern California (Auto Club) is the largest AAA motor club in the United States, serving more than 17 million members in 21 states and employing approximately 14,000 staff. Founded in 1900, the Auto Club provides a wide range of products and services, including roadside assistance, travel, insurance, financial, automotive and DMV-related services. Rated A+ by AM Best, the Auto Club’s affiliated insurance group, Auto Club Enterprises Insurance Group, is one of the largest auto and home insurers in California and is expanding rapidly in other states. Experience: Reporting to the Auto Club’s Senior Vice President and General Counsel, the Vice President, Legal Affairs will direct and manage all legal services for the organization, including litigation, insurance regulatory and transactional legal matters and insurance defense. This position will lead a team of 48 lawyers (22 in Costa Mesa, CA) and 51 legal professionals, and advise and counsel the organization’s senior management and executives on strategic initiatives, complex litigation and legal compliance. The successful candidate must be a member of the CA BAR (or be prepared to pass the CA Bar) and have 15+ years’ experience at a top law firm and/or in-house in roles of increasing responsibility. This position requires a business-minded lawyer with proven expertise in one or more of the following legal practice areas: corporate law and governance, insurance regulatory, litigation or transactional. Compensation: Competitive package commensurate with experience. Location: Costa Mesa, CA Relocation: Yes, however, there is a preference for local candidates. Bar: Member of the CA Bar or member in good standing of at least one U.S. State Bar other than California and prepared to pass the CA Bar.
