The Director contributes to the Division of Philanthropy’s comprehensive fundraising efforts by presenting leadership annual gift opportunities to a portfolio of 100+ prospects who have the capacity to give $50,000 or more, resulting in revenue of $1.5-2M annually. The Director conducts donor visits and implements strategies to cultivate and steward donors, renew and increase giving of assigned prospects, and build new pipelines of major gift, planned gift, President’s Circle, and Jimmy Fund donors. As a senior Annual Giving staff member and key contributor to the Division’s campaign and comprehensive gift initiative, this position works directly with the Director of Annual Giving, Prospect Management and senior members of the Annual Giving, Principal and Major Gift, Planned Giving, Campaign Planning, and Donor Relations teams. The Director will also help to shape and build the new leadership annual giving program at Dana-Farber. Responsible for assisting the entire Division with reaching financial goals.

PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
Raise $1.5-2M annually through management of a portfolio of 100+ annual leadership donors who have the capacity to give $50,000 or more.
Work with a portfolio of Dana-Farber Trustees to reach fundraising goals and secure commitments aligned with the Institute’s strategic goals.
Conduct 8-12 donor visits per month.
Qualify donors for major, principal, campaign, corporate, foundation, and planned giving opportunities
Prepare and submit proposals; participate in strategy meetings; cultivate prospects; track results.
Utilize mail, phone, email, videoconferencing, or volunteers for cultivation and solicitation of prospects as appropriate.
Keep current with and be able to convey information about strategic priorities, research and care initiatives and highlights at Dana-Farber.
Travel as appropriate to meet with donors and prospects.
Comprehensive Fundraising Activities
Act as liaison to the Comprehensive Gift Strategy Team (CGST) task force charged with ensuring collaborative gift strategies and solicitations across fundraising teams to maximize giving.
Represent Annual Giving on emerging comprehensive gift strategy teams, and identify high value prospects where coordinated gift strategy can contribute to more significant, donor-centric giving.
Provide input on recognition and crediting opportunities which encourage collaboration across the Division.
Incorporate a comprehensive gift strategy throughout all gift proposals and solicitations.
Report progress on goals and responsibilities to the department. Produce analysis of personal solicitation and fundraising results.
Coordinate with Information Services and Fiscal & Regulatory Management staff for reporting and prospect tracking.
Coordinate with the Director of Annual Giving, Prospect Management team for Group Strategies on development of leadership annual giving pipeline.
Participate as needed in Division of Philanthropy team efforts including solicitation strategy for key prospects, campaign, and internal planning efforts. Ad-hoc projects. Other responsibilities as assigned. Responsible for assisting the entire department, including other business units, in reaching financial goals.
Reports to Director, Annual Giving, Prospect Management. Collaborates with colleagues across the Division of Philanthropy to meet fundraising goals.
MINIMUM JOB QUALIFICATIONS:
Bachelor’s degree required with 8-10 years of experience in professional fundraising. A track record of successful leadership solicitations required with history of achieving fundraising goals.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, AND ABILITIES REQUIRED:
Superior written and verbal communication skills, strong organizational and managerial capabilities, ability to prioritize and manage multiple tasks also required. Public speaking experience and effectiveness necessary along with the ability to communicate and work with people at all levels. Must exercise significant judgment and confidentiality in working with a variety of constituencies, including donors, grateful patients, Trustees, volunteers, and staff at all levels, including senior faculty and staff. Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously, meet all deadlines, and provide quality client service. Strong knowledge of Microsoft Office applications and development databases. Ability to work independently and be self-motivated. Excellent problem solving and reasoning skills. Ability to work in a collegial manner with the Division of Philanthropy team in creating and implementing solicitation strategies. Management experience required. Willingness to travel.*
This position will evaluate current programs and create and execute approved plans to expand and diversify the donors and participants for the events assigned in order to broaden our donor base and create even more inclusive events. Experience with diverse donors is a plus.
Some evening and weekend work required.
