Clinical Chemistry and Toxicology UCSF/ZSFG Clinical Laboratories
The Department of Laboratory Medicine at the University of California, San Francisco (UCSF) and Zuckerberg San Francisco General Hospital (ZSFG) is recruiting a full-time doctoral-level clinical chemist at the rank of Associate Professor or higher, commensurate with experience, to direct clinical toxicology at ZSFG and develop the UCSF/ZSFG toxicology testing laboratory. The position is at the Associate or Full Professor level in the Clinical X series, which emphasizes strong commitment to clinical service, translational research and teaching. The successful candidate must have a PhD or MD degree and postgraduate training in clinical chemistry from a program accredited by the Commission on Accreditation in Clinical Chemistry, and be board certified or eligible from the American Board of Clinical Chemistry.
The candidate will be expected to have clinical laboratory service responsibilities in clinical chemistry and toxicology at ZSFG (50% time) while also assisting in the development of clinical toxicology testing at UCSF. The candidate will be a member of team of faculty and technicians at each site and will have direct supervisory roles in both laboratories. The candidate must have experience in general and special clinical chemistry, clinical toxicology, and molecular diagnostics. Experience with GC/MS, LC/MS and DNA/RNA analysis as well as conducting clinical trials is preferred. The successful candidate will also be responsible for teaching Laboratory Medicine Residents, clinical chemistry fellows, medical students, and clinical laboratory scientists. Establishment of an independent research program in translational clinical laboratory science is also a requirement for the position and will factor into promotion decisions for this faculty member.
