BASF Corporation is seeking a Head of Global Technical Service Hydromet (Tucson, AZ) to lead the company's Hydromet (HM) global technical service activities. Establish and lead a global HM technical service team. Define the company's global HM technical service offering and standards. Lead the development of the Global HM Technical Service Catalogue and its implementation. Standardize procedures and quality of service across regions. Establish Global HM Tech Service Community and foster best practice sharing. Define analytical requirements that best support a premium HM tech service concept. Evaluate optimum location and staffing of regional and global laboratories to support HM customers. Guide the Global HM Tech Service Lab-team so that they can provide premium analytical service to the regions and customers. Provide HM technical leadership to other technical and sales personnel within the business unit. Lead and organize HM laboratory work and schedules. Review results of laboratory work and report results to internal or external customers. Review reports from technical sales team to ensure that technical content is accurate . Answer HM technical and chemistry related questions on a daily basis from external and internal customers. Work with regions and segment management to assign technical resources to support projects at customer sites and in the lab. Ultimate goal of this collaboration is to grow business to meet HM sales targets. Making frequent HM customer visits to support problem solving, to identify opportunities where BASF chemistry and/or technology could meet current or future customer needs and to assist or conduct customer trials on new and existing applications. Supervises 8 employees (2-Lab Leaders, Senior Chemist, Analytical Chemist, 3-Lab Technicians, Contractor).
Qualifications - BASF recognizes institutions of Higher Education which are accredited by the Council for Higher Education Accreditation or equivalent
Master's degree or foreign equivalent in Chemistry, Chemical Engineering, Metallurgy, Engineering or related technical field and 7 years of experience in the chemical and mining industry. Requires 7 years of experience: in lab operations and technical service support in a global institution; judging the analytical laboratory results; finding solutions to customer issues based on analytical results; Managing staff responsible for Hydromet process as applied in commercial operations with particular emphasis on metal extraction; and mineral processing; and 5 years of experience providing technical service and support to customer's Hydromet operations. Up to 50% of domestic and international travel required.
