Reports to: Analytical Laboratory Manager Department: Laboratory
Description: The Analytical Chemist is responsible for the timeliness and completion of analytical samples and wet chemistry samples brought in by Performance Lab Staff or outside customers.
Performing sample analysis using a variety of instruments and techniques including but not limited to GC-MS, ICP-MS, and LC-MSMS.
Performing wet chemistry tasks as assigned.
Performing routine maintenance on instruments and analytical equipment.
Maintaining instrument maintenance records.
Making analytical reports.
Performing analysis of bi-annual PT and QC samples, and reporting of data to the PT provider.
Writing and revising standard operating procedures and standard test methods, and developing new test methods and procedures.
Verifying analytical data, reports, and solution books generated by other chemist(s).
Maintaining analytical lab inventory including general lab suppliers, chemicals, and standards solutions.
Thorough understanding of the Laboratory Quality Assurance Plan (LQAP).
Bachelor's Degree in chemistry, or a Bachelor's Degree in a physical, natural, or life science with college course work in analytical chemistry, required.
Three to five years of analytical laboratory experience required
Minimum of one year working in a QA/QC environment is strongly recommended.
Must have a complete understanding of analytical instruments operated in a standard laboratory
