Hong Kong Asset Management Compliance, Advisory Compliance & Regulatory Management plays a critical role in the successful execution of the firm?s compliance mission. The Compliance function ensures the development and maintenance of a strong compliance culture by developing and maintaining program infrastructure that identifies, measures and monitors compliance with applicable laws, regulations and rules that govern our business globally. Compliance teams work closely with business, legal, risk, and audit functions to provide expertise on regulatory compliance matters, assess and measure compliance and related risks, and monitor and test the adequacy of the firm?s compliance control environment. Hong Kong Asset Management Compliance provides support to the Hong Kong business which provides asset management products and services to institutional and individual investors worldwide. It offers the full spectrum of investment strategies - from equity, cash management, fixed income, currency and asset allocation to alternative asset classes such as private equity, real estate and hedge funds.
Position Description We are seeking a highly motivated and experienced Compliance personnel to join our Compliance team in Hong Kong. Key responsibilities includes:
Provide advice and support to the Hong Kong Asset Management business in respect of compliance with applicable regulations and internal policies.
Develop HK Asset Management compliance policies and procedures following updates/changes.
Involvement in other compliance and business related projects / initiatives with potential compliance / regulatory impacts.
Support compliance advice and support to the other AM businesses in China including the representative office and liaise with other compliance teams who handle other investment management businesses in China (e.g. Global Liquidity business in the locally incorporated bank, China Joint Venture)
Review new products and assist in the product documentation and registration process.
Provide training and support the review of marketing materials in relation to China business.
Assist in advising management and any relevant parties on new regulatory developments and advise appropriate implementation.
Advise management of relevant global and local policies and procedures and assist management in their implementation.
Involvement in other compliance and business related projects / initiatives with potential compliance / regulatory impacts and provide advice.
Prepare compliance reports and supporting documents for the relevant Management Committee meetings and other committees in China and the Asia Compliance Committee meetings.
Assist management and the business in the conduct of regulatory inspections and inquiries.
Develop and maintain relationships with regulators and relevant industry groups.
Assist in applying to the regulator for licenses for asset management businesses and the registration, deregistration and other relevant registrations.
Respond to requests from Global Compliance, Regional Compliance of AM or JPMC and provide information and report as appropriate.
Maintain liaison and coordination with the asset management business, other compliance teams for AM, Location Compliance of JPMC in China, Asia Regional Compliance of JPMC, Legal, Audit and other Control function teams, etc.
Perform periodic monitoring/ surveillance to check compliance with relevant regulations and internal policies and procedures in accordance with the local requirements and the Global Monitoring Program.
Substantiate and report results and findings of monitoring and surveillance tasks to management in a precise and concise report format.
Plan and conduct compliance induction and business specific compliance training.
Carry out adhoc compliance tasks and monitoring exercises as required.
Strong background in, and familiarity with the Financial Services Industry and Asset Management business with relevant experience of 6 years
Strong knowledge of SFC rules applicable to asset management business and MPF Regulations with a strong ability to interpret regulations and assess operational compliance
Meticulous attention to details and quality.
Excellent communication, report writing, interpersonal and influencing skills. The candidate should have the ability to establish credibility and strong partnerships with business leaders, control functions and corporate partners.
Good working knowledge and understanding of compliance function activities
Willingness to work as part of a tight Compliance team, where interdependencies will be common and ongoing.
Track record in building good working relationships and embracing change
Willingness to perform ad hoc task as and when required.
Professional maturity and confidence in expressing a point of view with management and peers
Strong analytical, communication and negotiation skills
Fluent in English and Mandarin.
