Summary: Responsible for setting up flow chemistry experiment, independently carry out chemical synthesis and product isolation, propose synthetic routes, manage flow chemistry synthesis projects and consult client/other department on potential flow chemistry applications.
Duties and Responsibilities include the following. Other duties may be assigned.
Independently, or collaborate with chemists and engineers, identify and develop continuous chemistry approach to target molecules.
Run reactions with no supervision, and perform subsequent isolation of target compounds
Analyze data to recognize trend and/or understand the reaction mechanism
Ability to troubleshoot and perform routine maintenance of the system.
Provide technical consulting to client and/or other departments within the company
Ability to propose flow chemistry synthetic planning
Manage flow chemistry synthesis projects, including allocating reactor time and scheduling client’s projects, under direction from management regarding project priority.
Submit orders for chemicals to purchasing
Maintain a clean and safe laboratory work area
Maintain chemistry synthesis notebook(s) and raw material lists
Provide oral updates as requested
Provides written weekly updates and final synthesis reports to supervisor(s)
Submits compounds to analytical for purity analysis.
Characterize compounds with little to no supervision.
Attend all relevant safety training
Performs other related duties as assigned.
Skills: Language Ability:
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from managers and co-workers. Write scientific reports and synthesis procedures in order to enable other researchers. Effective presentation of information and responses to questions from managers and co-workers.
Ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations. Ability to calculate charges for reactions.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
Ability to solve problems and analyze data without supervision
To perform this job successfully, an individual should have significant knowledge of Microsoft Outlook; Microsoft Explorer; Microsoft Word; Microsoft Excel; ChemDraw; Reaxys and Scifinder

PhD in chemistry with 5+ year of relevant industrial experience or a Master of Science in chemistry and 10+ years of relevant industrial experience.
