The Anaheim Convention Center (ACC) seeks a dynamic and experienced Facility Services Supervisor to supervise and coordinate Facility Services operations in support of conferences and events. The Facility Services Supervisor will oversee activities and staff responsible for providing set up, tear down, and cleaning services along with coordinating assigned activities with other divisions, departments, outside agencies, contractors, and the public.
Candidates must possess four years of responsible event services or facility management experience including one year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience, supplemented by completion of the twelfth grade and college level course work in business administration, public administration, facilities management or a related field. An ideal candidate will have attention to detail, be an excellent communicator, and have experience in a convention center or similar event venue.
The ACC reigns as the largest exhibit facility on the West Coast, having hosted such large, well-attended events as the NAMM Show, Disney's D23 Expo, and Wondercon. Originally opened in 1967, the ACC currently spans 53 acres and offers 1.8 million square feet of functional space and dynamic features. The ACC completed its seventh expansion in 2017, providing an additional 200,000 square feet of flexible meeting space to our guests.

Retirement: City of Anaheim employees become members of the California Public Employees' Retirement System (CalPERS).
New Employees who are an existing CalPERS member or a member of an agency with reciprocity with the City of Anaheim, will be enrolled in the 2.7% @ 55 CalPERS retirement benefit formula. Employees pay the full employee contribution of 12%.
New Employees who have never been a CalPERS member, or is a member of a retirement system (CalPERS or reciprocal) but has a break in service longer than six (6) months, will be enrolled in the 2% @ 62 CalPERS benefit formula. Employees contribute 6.75% of the normal benefit costs for this retirement benefit.
Employees contribute 1.45% towards Medicare. The City does not participate in Social Security and as such no deductions will be taken.

The following functions are typical for this classification. Incumbents may not perform all of the listed functions and/or may be required to perform additional or different functions from those set forth below to address business needs and changing business practices.
Support and assist the Facility Services and Sustainability Manager with the management, organization, scheduling, and operational activities of Facility Services personnel, including housekeeping, cleaning, event set-up, and facility services; assist with the supervision of landscape maintenance and sustainability efforts at the Convention Center.
Supervise and oversee the daily work plan of multiple crews including set-up and clean-up crews and event cleaners; monitor work activities and evaluate work results, methods and procedures; meet with personnel to identify performance issues and correct deficiencies; make recommendations for discipline and draft written reprimands, Notices of Intent, and related discipline documents.
Conduct staff training on Facility Services programs and operations; identify training needs and develop and implement training curriculum; train staff on proper and safe use of forklifts, power sweepers, electric carts, high lifts and a variety of hand and power tools.
Evaluate facility/event requests with regard to facility capabilities; participate in logistical planning to meet facility/event requirements; monitor, track and prepare billing information for requested labor provided to clients as necessary.
Coordinate the logistics and movement of operable partitions and equipment prior to, during and after scheduled events.
Provide assistance in resolving operational and administrative issues; receive requests from tenants and resolve complex customer service issues.
Assist with recruitment, selection, and training of Facility Services personnel; facilitate or coordinate staff training.
Review, monitor, and adjust staffing levels based on facility and event needs; review operational procedures and plans and adjust accordingly.
Assist in the development of assigned budget; collect and review financial data; make recommendations and obtain final approval for changes; create data tracking and reporting systems; monitor monthly status.
Participate in disciplinary investigations and recommend appropriate action; meet with employees to discuss concerns; monitor labor agreements to ensure application of contract terms and conditions.
Assist with monitoring facility landscape contracts to ensure adherence to contract standards and Anaheim Resort standards.
Attend and participate in staff meetings and professional group meetings; maintain awareness of trends and developments in the public assembly/facility management industry, facility services and landscape management.
Assist in researching, developing and implementing new sustainability initiatives for Anaheim Convention Center, including zero carbon footprint, energy conservation, waste reduction, water reduction, recycling, and clean air quality.
Requisition supplies and materials; distribute supplies and equipment to staff.
Perform other duties as assigned.
Experience and Education: Four (4) years of responsible event services or facility management experience including one (1) year of administrative and/or lead supervisory experience, supplemented by completion of the twelfth grade and college level course work in business administration, public administration, facilities management or a related field. An equivalent combination of experience and education sufficient to perform the essential job functions and provide the required knowledge and abilities is qualifying.
Knowledge of: Basic operational characteristics, services, and activities of facility services; modern and complex principles and practices of event services, facility maintenance and operations including the related trades, crafts and service areas; public facility safety regulations; general accounting principles and practices; performance management and employee relations principles and practices; landscaping and landscape design; principles of supervision, training, and performance evaluation; principles and procedures of record keeping; principles of business letter writing and report preparation; modern office procedures, methods, and equipment including computers; computer applications such as word processing, and spreadsheets; pertinent federal, state, and local laws, codes, and regulations.
Ability to: Coordinate and direct assigned program activities; select, supervise, train and evaluate staff; recommend and implement goals, objectives, policies and procedures for providing services and sustainability; understand, interpret, and apply general and specific administrative and departmental policies and procedures as well as applicable federal, state, and local policies, laws, and regulations; prepare and administer assigned budgets; plan and organize work to meet changing priorities and deadlines; promote and comply with safe work practices and safety standards; effectively represent the City to outside individuals and agencies respond tactfully and appropriately to inquiries from the public, City staff, or other agencies on sensitive issues; operate forklift, electric cart, power tools, and related tools and equipment used in facility services operations; use discretion and exercise sound judgment; work independently; communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing; and establish and maintain effective working relationships with those contacted in the course of work.
License/Certification Required: Possession of a valid California Class C Driver's License by date of appointment.
